Mijas, November 15, 2019.- Fundación CLC World has today delivered a cheque for €15,000 to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).

Once again, the staff of CLC World Resorts & Hotels have come together to fight against Breast Cancer, the most common type of tumour in women, according to the AECC. In Spain, approximately 33,307 new cases are diagnosed each year, which means that one in eight women will suffer from this disease in their lifetime.

Thanks to the fundraising campaign by the company’s employees in October, it has been possible to collect this significant amount for the AECC. A fun, supportive and diverse range of activities were held to raise funds, including: car washes, special parties, raffles, lunches and a ‘spooktacular’ Halloween party.

Roy Peires, Chairman of CLC World and founder of the Fundación, thanked the employees: “When we created Fundación CLC World 20 years ago, I would never have imagined that so much could be achieved. Thank you for all your efforts.”

The most emotional event took place on October 18th, when over 300 CLC World employees on the Costa del Sol, accompanied by representatives from local municipal authorities took part in a large family photo in commemoration of World Breast Cancer Day.

The President of Fundación CLC World, Juan Miguel Marcos, once again expressed his gratitude to the volunteers and employees who made this great project a reality: “Thank you very much for your collaboration, effort and enthusiasm in organising the events carried out during October. You have all made the donation of €15,000 possible to the AECC.”

The event was also attended by municipal representatives of Mijas and Fuengirola and by the director of the AECC, Pedro González, who said that part of this year’s donations will go towards a physiotherapy service to cure lymphedema, a side effect of breast cancer. This will also serve to support pre-doctoral scholarships aimed at graduates, to encourage them in research.

Likewise, the mayor of Mijas, Josele González, has highlighted the great efforts of the CLC World team that, year-after-year, is committed to raising funds for such worthwhile causes as the AECC.

He said:- “Although we recently celebrated 20 years of the Fundación, today we can say that the spirit of collaboration and commitment throughout the province is as strong as ever.”
